Scenic Sights

Here are a list of my favourite places that require minimal effort to get to - no long hikes required. Click on the name of any destination to learn more.

Charley at Wedge Pond

Kananaskis

A calm, mirror-like pond with a stunning mountain backdrop. One of the most photogenic pulloffs in all of Kananaskis.

Exshaw

A turquoise gem tucked right off the highway near Exshaw. Easy access and a great first stop on the way into Kananaskis Country.

A large reservoir surrounded by forested ridgelines. Perfect for a lakeside walk or just soaking in the views from the dam.

Peaceful fishing ponds with Kananaskis peaks all around. Calm, quiet, and great for a short stroll.

Moraine Lake

Lake Louise

One of the most iconic views in Canada. The Valley of the Ten Peaks is unforgettable — get there early.

Banff

Banff's largest lake with dramatic Rocky Mountain scenery. Great for a walk along the shoreline or a canoe cruise.

Lake Louise

World-famous for good reason. The emerald water backed by the Victoria Glacier never gets old.

Banff

A mountain town worth exploring on its own. Great food, shops, and views of Cascade Mountain right from the main street.

A cool waterfall just a short walk from the parking lot. Especially impressive during spring runoff.

Calgary

Calgary's best riverside green space. A great escape from the city with the Elbow River running right through it.

One of the largest urban parks in Canada. Wide open prairie views and big skies right in northwest Calgary.

Banff

A quiet picnic area in Banff with small ponds and easy walking paths. Great for families or a relaxed afternoon.

A castle in the Rockies. Even if you're not staying, it's worth walking the grounds and taking in the architecture.

A stunning alpine lake with a lakeside trail and spectacular views. The quieter of the two lakes.

Crystal-clear water with a fantastic mountain backdrop. The busier and more visited of the two Kananaskis Lakes.

A popular central Alberta beach town. Sandy shores, warm water, and great fishing.

Pigeon Lake

A relaxed lakeside escape southwest of Edmonton. Great for a casual day trip out of the city.
