Ptarmigan Cirque is a fantastic hike for the effort. Once you ascend through the forest you are greeted with fantastic mountain and meadow views. The trail follows a sometimes narrow ridge to form a loop. There are plenty of photo opportunities of wildflowers, a small waterfall, and of course the meadow and mountain views. Many people tend to pack a lunch and eat it on the rocks at the far edge of the loop.
Make sure to stay on the trail as this is a highly sensitive area and has frequent closures in wet conditions to protect the area from environmental degradation.
The highway to this trailhead is closed to vehicle traffic from December 1 - June 15, but you are able to bike or walk to the trailhead during that time if you are willing.
