Mist Mountain Springs Trail not only offers stunning mountain views, but it also gives you the opportunity to bathe in Southern Alberta's only undeveloped natural hot springs. While the springs are not very hot - more lukewarm, this is a unique experience that can not be found anywhere nearby. The trail is a grind as there are many very steep sections to get up the mountain, the views are definitely worth it. Poles would be recommended as it can help with the steep sections.
If you would like an opportunity to enter the springs without a long wait, you need to get to the trailhead very early. We made that mistake by going in the early afternoon and the line to get into the spring span around half a kilometer, so we opted out of waiting, enjoyed the views, then headed back down the mountain.
This trail is subject to seasonal road closures from December 1 - June 15, but you are able to bike or hike in during those times.
If you are looking for more, there is a trail off towards Eagle Ridge found to the east before you head on the gravel trails to the springs, or you can hike up Mist Mountain up a scrambly/rocky trail to the West - only attempt if you are experienced.
