Chester Lake + Elephant Rocks

Both Chester Lake and the Elephant Rocks are a fantastic showcase of the beautiful sights and unique environments found in Kananaskis Country. This trail heads up through the trees into a large mountain meadow featuring mountain views and creeks/rivers coming from Chester Lake. You may see some fly fishers in the water leading up to Chester Lake there as well. The lake offers breathtaking views with Mount Chester in the background. There is a trail all the way around the lake if you wish to complete that, or you can follow the narrow trail heading upwards through the trees near the backside of the lake to reach the Elephant Rocks. The Elephant Rocks are massive rocks that many people will climb up for photos - there are many safe routes to take requiring no gear at all - but be safe.
There is a pit toilet near the lake if you are needing to use the washroom at all.
This trail is subject to annual closures from May 1 - June 29 to allow the area to dry.
