Grotto Canyon is a cool trail just outside of Canmore near the hamlet of Exshaw. The first half of the trail follows the Grotto Creek trail where you walk along and cross over Grotto Creek 31 times before reaching the waterfall. You are able to walk closer to the waterfall, but be careful as the rocks to get there are quite slippery - they are very smooth and your shoes will not have much to grip on. From the waterfall the trail keeps going beyond the Trail No Longer Maintained sign where you essentially pick your own best path as you traverse the canyon. There will be mountain views, canyon views, and a cool cave you can see on the lefthand side. The trail traverses some larger rocks, so again watch your footing.

Grotto Canyon is a very unique trail and is highly recommended.
