Tunnel Mountain is a short hike with great views in the town of Banff. The trail follows many switchbacks up to the summit of a rather low-peak mountain. The hike offers stunning views of the Town of Banff, the Banff Springs Golf Course, Mount Rundle, and the surrounding area. We hiked in the winter and used microspikes - which are a must if winter hiking here as the trail can get very icy. The trail is very well maintained, but is also very popular, so arrive early to ensure you get good parking.

The west slope of the trail does close from May 1 - June 30 as a result of Elk Calving Season, so be alert for possible closures and if you do see an elk keep your distance as mothers protecting their calves will be very aggressive.
